Lao PDR is a country with a vibrant culture and tradition. Lam Vong is the national dance of Laos. In Lao Language, it means “circle dance” that includes beautiful arm and hand gestures combining harmoniously with simple footstep and music rhythm. 

The Lam Vong is a slow and graceful dance of couples, the men form an inner circle and the women an outer circle, with couples dancing around each other while moving in their respective circles. Before the dance starts, there is a formal greeting where the couples bow with their hands joined together (Nob) to express respect for each other. Throughout the dance, they maintain a mannered distance, no physical contact. The circle of movement is be repeated based on the length of the music.

The Lam Vong is usually performed for numerous occasions or events such as Lao New Year, weddings, festivals, ceremonies, celebrations, and other social gatherings.
